Robert H. Vordtriede Obituary

Robert Henry (Bob) Vordtriede (Brat), of O'Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of the late Joella Berneice (Babe) Vordtriede; son of the late Kenneth Alvern Vordtriede and the late Gladys Pearl Parrish (nee Thompson); devoted father of the late Paul Byron Vordtriede, Robert Anthony (Cate) Vordtriede, Kristin Elizabeth (Michael) Farrell, Richard McNeil, Jr., Danielle Elaine McNeil, Carolyn Lorraine (Charles) Jackson, and Eric Lawrence (Cheryl) McNeil; dear father-in-law of Sarah Vordtriede Patton; loving grandfather of 15; treasured great-grandfather of 7; dear brother-in-law of the late Gladys Marie Washington and the late Honorable Senator Paula J. Carter; dear brother of Carolyn Sue (Mike) Corbett, Stephen Kent (Micah) Vordtriede, Sandra Louise (Mike) Bollia, Alan Dion (Alana) Vordtriede, Kerry Lynn (Kim) Vordtriede; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.

Bob was born in East St Louis, Illinois and was educated in various public schools throughout Southern Illinois. He acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Lindenwood University in 1981. Bob was employed by McDonnell Aircraft Company, McDonnell-Douglas Corporation, and the Boeing Company from April 1963 until retirement in July 2015. He was a manufacturing manager for 37 of those 52 years. Bob served in the U.S. Army from April 1965 until April 1967. He was a member of Church on the Rock. Bob was an avid collector of old coins and paper money. Some of his favorite activities included reading, traveling, cruising, walking and family time. He especially enjoyed shooting pool with friends and family members. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
