He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Bertish and Mildred Bertish. He is survived by: his wife Irene (Steinman); his children, Mark (Angelica) and Debbie; his grandchildren, Collin, Leo, Alexandria and Tonya; his brothers, Gerry (Jodie) and Ted (Ellen); and his sister-in-law Barbara Ichkowsky (Marvin). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in honor of his lifelong dedication to helping others.
