He was predeceased by: his mother Majorie R. Schmidt (Holtman); his wife Mary Jo Harrison; and his brother-in-law Charles E. Harrison. He is survived by: his father Walter M. Schmidt; his daughter Elaine; his nephew Jay Harrison (Tina); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Loren (Michael), Jessica (Michael), Blake and Andrea; his niece Michelle Simmons; and his grandchildren, Devin Stewart (Kumi), Dalton Stewart, Gabriel Stewart (Myka) and Andrew Felgate (Abbi).
