He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas Sands and Doris Sands (Queen); his wife Patricia; his daughter Lori Sands; and his brother Larry Sands.

He is survived by : his son Michael Sands Jr. (Mary) of Owensville; his siblings, Ricky Sands of Rolla, Steve Sands of Springfield, Jerry Sands of Jefferson City and Charlotte Sands of Newburg; and his grandchildren, Liberty and Seth Sands.
