He was predeceased by: his father George L.; his mother-in-law Evelyn Detjen; and his nephew Brett Layton. He is survived by: his wife Cindy; his children, Brittany Elder of Perryville and Ryan Elder of Perryville; and his siblings, George "Ed" Elder (Cathy) of Perryville and Denise Layton (Jack) of Perryville.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Ford & Young Funeral Home (110 S West St, Perryville, MO 63775). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (1000 Rosati Ct, Perryville, MO 63775).
