With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James William Downey of Plattsburg, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 5, 2026 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Downey and Grace Downey (Powers). He is survived by: his wife Sharon Lynn Johnson; his daughter April Downey of Gladstone, Missouri; his siblings, Victoria Downey-Goff, Norma Kimzey, Carol Stuart (Claude), Jane Welch (Ric), Deborah Lake (Rich), Joyce Cambron, Dan Downey (Jill), Fred Downey and Sam Downey (Sharon); and his brother-in-law Mark Johnson (Barb). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital.
