It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald J. Carlile of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, born in Logan, Iowa, who passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joshua Walter and Vernie Elizabeth Carlile (Killpack); his granddaughter Megan Nicole Carlile; and his siblings, Virgil Carlile, Violet Stowell, Mildred Talcott, Jean Hoover, Dorothy Rosanbalm and June Tygart.
He is survived by: his children, Jaylene Lavonne Shay of Clinton, Donald Basil Carlile of Red Oak and Steven Walter Carlile of Lee's Summit; his grandchildren, Amy Lavonne Kennish (Gray Ilaria), Nicholas Donald Shay, Laine Patrick Shay, Jacob Tyler Carlile (Kelly), Donald Bradford "Brad" Carlile (Jennifer Hill), Caleb Samuel Carlile (Elana), Lexi Ann Lettie Carlile (Brittany Bogan) and Tori Terese Pastorelli (Joe); his great grandchildren, Hannah Sue Kennish (Marcos Scrivo), Harper Leigh Shay and Kylie Jaksyn Pastorelli; and his brother Marion "Shorty" Carlile (Yvonne). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Community of Christ Church or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
