He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Vera and Maria Vera (Gamino); his siblings, Joseph Robert "Bobby" Vera, Raul Vera and Sandra; and his son-in-law Neal Wissman.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Vera; his children, Thomas J. "T. J." Vera, II (Bryn) of Baytown, Texas, Amanda Wissman of Shawnee and Tamara Newman of Junction City, Kansas; his siblings, Gerard Vera of Topeka, Rodney Vera (Emily) of Manhattan, Kansas, Olga Madigan (Jim) of Lansing and Gerri Jennings (Bob) of Oklahoma; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Camryn, Margaret, Caroline, Reese and Thomas J. III. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations, In Memory of Thomas J. Vera, are suggested to the Johnson Cancer Center at Kansas State University.
