She was predeceased by: her parents, Bert Elder and Stella Elder (Bowers); her former husband Carl Gowin; her children, Carl Gowin and Carolyn Sue Hunter; her husband Calvin Seratt; her siblings, Loyd, Clyde, Lavern Elder, Velma Chapman and Violet Bennett; and her grandchildren, Renee Lynn Gowin and David Gowin.
She is survived by: her daughter Karen Gowin Shepard; her sister Veda Wilson; and her grandchildren, Karen Lynn, Sheila, Larry, Michael, Jimmy, Jason, Timothy, Crystal and Shawn "Bear". She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other extended family.
