She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Sample and Madge Sample; her sister Saundra Sample; and her brothers-in-law, Walt Fauss and Alan Lohmann.

She is survived by: her husband Denny Smothers; her sons, Jason Smothers (Julie) and Rodney Smothers; her siblings, Carol Fauss, Darlene Lohmann and Joe Henry Sample (Marla); her grandchildren, Darby (Regina), Jackson, John-Henry (Eve), Julia and Adrian; and her great grandchildren, Juniper and Rhea.
