Though Vernon Leroy may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Krat Pennington and Amy Pennington; and his son Gil Pennington. He is survived by: his children, Jon Pennington of Bangkok, Mark Pennington (Cathleen) of Ironton, MO and Carol Sue Wingo of Ironton, MO; and his pet Ellie.
He is also in the Southeast Missouri Baseball Hall of Fame, loved playing golf, was an extreme supporter of puppies, enjoyed donating to the blind, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Poplar Bluff.
