He was predeceased by: his parents, Lottie Mae Bowen (Lawson) and James Ivory Bowen; his siblings, Ernie Bowen, Willie Bowen, Myrtle Kean, Ruby Anderson, Lilly Baker, Deloris Dotson, Ruth Wilkinson and Hazel Peebles; and his grandchildren, Michael Bowen Jr. and Melody Wade.

He is survived by: his children, Sharon Bourbon (Billy) and Mike Bowen; his grandchildren, Kayla Long (A. J.), Megan Harmon (Dalton), Matthew Bourbon (Stefanie), Chris Bowen (Nicole), Shayla Hurt, Carrie Wade and Ashlee Patel; and his friend Buddy.
