He was predeceased by: his parents, W. E. Vails and Virgie Mounce Vails; and his siblings, Roy Vails, Franklin Vails, Charles Vails, Harley Vails, Jerline Gregory, Eula Owens, Armada Valentine, Joyce Arnold and Maxine Lester.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Vails (Jill) of Baileyville, Illinois, Diane Smith (Mark) of Poplar Grove and Lori Allen (Steve) of Puxico, Missouri; and his sisters, Lola Thomas of Virginia and Nadine Donalson of Rockford, Illinois. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one bonus grandchild, twenty-three great grandchildren, four bonus great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (125 S Turnbaugh St, Puxico, MO 63960). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
