With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Eugene Leslie of Puxico, Missouri, born in Venice, Illinois, who passed away on October 23, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though James Eugene may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James Eugene touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paris John and Trula Mae Leslie (Weaver); his wife Doris Townsend; his brother Melvin Leslie of Granite City; and his brother-in-law Robert Pfeiffer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Joan Frintz (Donald) of House Springs, Karen Woods of Park Hills and Carol Harrington of Ballwin, Missouri; his sister Merlene Pfeiffer of Granite City, Illinois; his grandson Jason Woods (Rosanna) of Jackson; and his great grandchildren, Coty and Riley Woods.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Watkins Funeral Homes - Dexter (301 N Walnut St, Dexter, MO 63841). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery (17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, MO 63825).
