He was predeceased by: his parents, James O. Stephens and Eva Stephens (Moffatt); his spouse Marlyn Keller; and his siblings, Junior, Lloyd, LaVonne, Barbara and Ada.
He is survived by: his sons, James D. Stephens, Jr. (Trina) of Kansas City, Howard Lewis of Blue Springs, Johnny Stephens and Joseph Stephens of Quincy; and his great grandchildren, James, Blake, Adam, Amanda, Jacob, Tassie, Amanda W., Jayme, McKenzie, Spence, Johnathan, Jayce, Nora, Ava, Bennett, Gracelynn and Piper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Heckart Funeral Home & Cremation Services (903 S Ohio Ave, Sedalia, MO 65301). A graveside service was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Crown Hill Cemetery (701 N Engineer Ave, Sedalia, MO 65301).
