Jo-Ann Harriet Oldenburg Obituary

Jo-Ann Harriet Oldenburg, 82, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away June 1, 2020. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, Raytown, Missouri with funeral service to follow at 6:00 P.M.. Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.Jo-Ann was born on March 10, 1938 to Michael and Josephine Thomas in Credit River Township, Minnesota.

She grew up on a farm until graduating from high school. She met Howard Oldenburg and they got married on May 18, 1957. Together they raised five children, Steven, Verdon, Judy, Jamie and Renae. The family lived on a farm in Lydia, Minnesota until 1977 when Howard was transferred to Tampa, Florida. From there they relocated to Raytown, Missouri.

They both enjoyed sports until Howard's passing in 2000. Jo-Ann continued to enjoy her time with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her spare time she watched the Royals games, and talked with her sisters over the phone (especially when it was the Royals playing against the Twins).She was preceded in death by: her husband, Howard Oldenburg; son, Steven Oldenburg; daughter, Judy Hawks; grandson, Dennis Hawks; great granddaughter, Courtney King; parents, Michael and Josephine Thomas; sisters, Elaine Fredrickson, Margaret Egan, Joyce Oxborough and Carol Thomas.Survivors include: her sons, Verdon and Jamie Oldenburg; daughter , Renae Oldenburg (Mark); sisters, Mary Bunnell and Dolores Busse; brothers, Robert (Darlene) Thomas, Harold Thomas, John Thomas, James (Sandi) Thomas; eighteen grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.As.

Jo-Ann continues on her new journey, her family, friends and most importantly, grandchildren and great grandchildren, are standing together to say goodbye.
