John Robert Szczygiel Obituary

John Robert Szczygiel passed away on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, immense generosity, and a sharp, unforgettable sense of humor.

John was a man of quiet presence, but when he spoke, it was often with a perfectly timed joke. He was genuinely hilarious, bringing laughter to family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to know him. Beneath his quick wit was a deeply generous heart. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, never asking for anything in return.

A dedicated and dependable worker, John spent 43 years as a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He began his career at the age of 21 with Roadway Express, remaining a loyal employee through the company's many transitions and mergers before retiring from Yellow Corporation.

Outside of work, John's greatest joy was spending time on the golf course. He loved golfing with his brother, cousins, and close friends, and one of the highlights of each year was playing in the annual Polish Golf Tournament.

John is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Alexandra Szczygiel; Debra Szczygiel; his brother, Stephen Szczygiel; his sister, Dana Szymula; and his faithful dog, Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Margaret Szczygiel, and his brother, David Szczygiel.

In keeping with John's wishes, no formal services will be held.
