He was predeceased by: his parents, Stella G. Cortez and Raymond O. Cortez; his sisters, Connie Cerda (late Eddie), Renee Garcia (Rich) and Nina Martinez; his niece Dreama Garcia; his nephew Nick Cerda; his granddaughter Malyssa Medellin; and his pets, Pati and Dutchess.
He is survived by: his wife Susanne Cortez (Rodriguez); his children, Danny, Stella (Edwin), Roy Jr., Erica, Raymond (Lilit), Roni, Nick (Mayloni) and Joe; his grandchildren, Gia, Rito, Audry, Lily, Riyanna of Ryaiah, AJ, Amar'e, Bella, Nick, Edwin, Roy, Cai of Valentina, RJ, Aquilo and Atlas; his siblings, Chuco Cortez, Roxie Samora (John) and Maggie Martinez (Emilio); and his aunt Hope Garcia. He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Heartland Cremation & Burial Society (6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the St. John Francis Regis Parish (8941 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138).
