He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thomas Owens Jr. and Mildred Maria Owens (Perkins); his wife Sherlie Eugenia Owens (Hedger); and his sisters, Betty Marie Fink, Donna Kay Wright, Dorothy Jean Shelton and Phyllis June Dobbins.

He is survived by: his siblings, Jackie Leroy Owens of Bruner, Wanda Lou Pearson (Robert) of Fordland, Linda Sue Underwood (Dale) of Seymour and Judith Anna White (David) of Leavenworth; his daughters, Shirley Marie Butler (Larry) of Bolivar and Christina Maria Owens of Indiana; his grandchildren, Alexander Scott Hazell (Sarah) of Springfield and Kaela Nicole Hazell of Ozark; and his great grandchildren, Sophia Violet Williams and Kayden Gray Hazell.
