He is survived by: his wife Barbara Smith (Frederick) of Rutledge, Missouri; his children, Michael D. Smith of Clifton Hill and Melanie D. Peterson (Dan) of Alburnett, Iowa; his stepchildren, Jamie Triplett (Dawn) of Rutledge, Chad Triplett (Heidi) of Rutledge, Curt Triplett of Rutledge and Joanie Baker (James) of Brock, Missouri; and his siblings, Jerry Smith (Sue), Judy Heasley and Charlene Kelly. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; one great grandson, nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends.
