He was predeceased by: his wife Dixie Mills; his siblings, Dorothy Meyers, Johnny Mills, Henry Mills, Maxie Mills, Bobbie Lindsey and Lewis Mills; and his parents, John Mac and Ada Mills.

He is survived by: his children, Brenda Donovan, Kathy Johnson (Johnny), Marilyn Schafer (Bruce), Vicki Martin (Jack), Debbie Loughridge (Don) and Ronnie Mills.

Memorial contributions have been suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
