He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip and Ailene; his wife Priscilla; and his brother James Winter. He is survived by: his children, Dana Winter and Dan Winter (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jack and Lilly Winter; and his sibling Shirley Boennighausen.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
