He was predeceased by: his wife Robin Johnson; his parents, Uno W. Johnson and Lois W. Johnson; and his nephew Jim Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Barbara Loveless (Patrick) and Bob Johnson (Jill); his grandchildren, Robert Loveless, Brandon Johnson, Miriam Johnson and Caleb Johnson; his brother Robert E. Johnson (Joanna); and his niece Kathy Flentge.
