He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Jo Dempsey; his parents, John Dempsey and Agnes Dempsey; and his siblings, Jeanette Hinkle (T. A.), Johnny Dempsey (Shirley), Elizabeth Shivers (Bill), Henry Dempsey (Dean) and Fredrick Dempsey (Carolyn).
He is survived by: his children, Tom Dempsey (Molly), Anne Lersch (Kevin) and Mary Dempsey (James Sanders); his grandchildren, Meaghan, Abby, Jack Dempsey and Adam Lersch; his sister Dorothy Jones (Alton); and his sister-in-law Lois Toigo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
