He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Ann "Dot" Mintert; his parents, Anton Mintert and Ida Eichorn; and his siblings, Antoinette Thorp (Charles), Rosemary Springer (Dale), Margaret Wenger (Lee), Anthony Mintert (Fran), Henry Mintert (Jane), Robert Mintert (Bulah May) and Charles Mintert.

He is survived by: his daughter Cynthia Vickrey (Gregory); and his granddaughter Nichole Ann Dearing (Jeremy).

Memorials may be made in Joseph's name to Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
