He was predeceased by: his parents, B. W. Szymanski and Sophie Szymanski; his brother-in-law Kenneth Goerss (Shirley); his siblings, Cecilia Wilson, Martha Kelly, Christine Priest, Matilda Bill, Edward Szymanski, Cyril Szymanski and Louis Szymanski; and his stepgrandson Kyle Fine.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Szymanski; his children, Karen Fine (Bradley) and Dale Szymanski (Debbie); his grandchildren, Lauren Szymanski, Melissa Szymanski and B. J. Fine; his great grandchildren, Landon and Julian; his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Fine and Chet Fine (April); his brother-in-law Wayne Goerss (Kathy); and his nieces and nephews, Marilyn Henderson, Mark Priest (Dottie), Robert Goerss (Emily), Genesa Goerss, Tammy Renshaw (Robert) and Keith Goerss (Pam).

Memorials may be made in Julian's name to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
