She was predeceased by: her husband Maurice Plackemeier; her parents, Omar Hackmann and Olga Hackmann; her daughter Linda Driller (Penn); and her siblings, Bernice Warmann, Clarence Hackmann and Elroy Hackmann.

She is survived by: her children, Mark Plackemeier (Gina), Karen Blum (Bob), Lori Krekeler (Steven) and Scott Plackemeier (Caron); her grandchildren, Kristin Courtney (Chad), Erica Downey (Carl), Jason Plackemeier, Taylor Driller (Melody), Courtney Blum, Claudia Driller (Chris Woomer) and Adam Krekeler; and her great grandchildren, Chloe Downey, Emily Courtney, Ella Downey, Vera Woomer, Warren Downey, Cash Woomer and Xavier Driller.

Memorials may be made in LaVerne's name to Autism Society of America.
