He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Fairchild and Gladys Fairchild; his brother Robert Fairchild; his former wife Madelaine Fairchild; and his wife Mattie Sue Fairchild.
He is survived by: his former spouse Madelaine Mercier; his children, Frances Keating (Tim), Melvin Fairchild Jr. (Christine) and Martin Fairchild (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Katelyn, Anna, McKenzie (Dylan), Colson and Darius; his great grandchildren, Liam and Lily; and his siblings, Russell Fairchild (Mary) and Marvin Fairchild (Lori). He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
