He is survived by: his parents, Dennis Bates and Sharon Bates (King); his siblings, Matthew Bates (Lynn) of Olathe, KS, Sarah Bates-Terp (Kevin) of Denver, CO and Rachel Bates of Jefferson City, MO; his niece Emma Bates; and his nephews, Ethan Bates and Keegan Terp. He is also survived by extended family members and close friends.
