She is survived by: her husband Carl E. Gibbs; her children, Maria VonderHaar (John) and Timothy Caugh (Holly); her stepdaughter Michelle Gibbs; her grandchildren, John VonderHaar (Nicole), Colleen O'Neil (Matthew), Brittney Gibbs, Sean Gibbs, Mecedes Gibbs and Lacey Steele; her brother John Bollinger (Shirley); and her nephew John Bollinger (Susan). She is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made in Verna's honor to St. Louis Children's Hospital or Dementia Society of America.
