He was predeceased by: his parents, Janice VanHoutan and Donald VanHoutan; and his brothers, Tom, Ronald and Danny VanHoutan.

He is survived by: his wife Marla "Ilene" VanHoutan; his daughters, Leslie Cook, Heidi Robinson and Lori Shea (Robert); and his sister Diana Riggs. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
