He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ebling and Catherine Ebling (McGlothlin); and his brother Sonny Ebling. He is survived by: his wife Barbara McGowan; his son Todd Ebling (Nancy); his stepchildren, Debbie Gertsch and Tim Schroeder; and his siblings, Roger Ebling (Cheryl) and Beverly Freeman (Larry). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
