He was predeceased by: his brother Gary Schaefer; his parents, Eugene Schaefer and Thelma Schaefer (Gregory); and his in-laws, Drexel and Sarah Berry (Fields).
He is survived by: his wife Melody (Berry); his children, Michael Schaefer (Kate) and Leah Garcia (Andy); his grandchildren, Brittan, Brooklyn, Drexel Schaefer, Logan and Joseph Garcia; his siblings, Norma Norris (Dan) and Chris Schaefer (Darla); his niece Karle (Joe Houghland); and his nephews, Brian Schaefer (Marissa) and Neil Schaefer (Lauryn).
