He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis G. Merritt and Benita M. Merritt (Becerra); his stepparents, Karen Merritt and Bill Peters; his sisters, Diana Lindsey and Michelle Walts; and his grandparents, Pablo and Marcelina Becerra.
He is survived by: his children, Kristin Smith (Kevin) and Phillip Merritt; his siblings, Paula Welsh (Mike), Dennis (Connie) and Marvin Merritt (Cindy); and his grandchildren, Ashton Merritt and Zayden Johnson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mosaic Life Care Hospice.
