He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley Thornton and Larry Thornton; his brother Jason Tyler Thornton; and his niece Maylee DeSpain. He is survived by: his sisters, Haley M. DeSpain (Ricky Reed) and Amber Green (Randy); his son Matthew Thornton of St. Joseph, MO; and his close friends, Michelle Cooper and Josh Zaenker. He is also survived by sons, 1 bonus daughter, and 7 grandchildren, as well as 3 nephews and a niece.
