He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Coate and Esther Miller. He is survived by: his parents-in-law, Cynthia Ray (Daniel), Samuel Coate (Elizabeth), David Coate (Teresa Minato), Bruce Coate (Hoa), Marilyn Coate, Ann Sokol, Lisa Rohwer (Jim) and Dawn Bonsall (Jeff). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

“In loving memory of Paul Edward Coate, With deepest sympathies. I fill the loss of Paul and praying for his family. Paul was my first cousin, his mother(Esther) was a sister to my mother(Laura). Remember his large family coming to the farm, as a toddler he kept to house and never went down to see the calves or play with me -- I was 15 or 16 at the time. When Paul's family started to get married and leaving the nest I would guess we never cross paths.”
