He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Schmitz and Beatrice Schmitz (Lager); and his son Marvin Schmitz. He is survived by: his children, Roger Schmitz (Julia), Charles Schmitz (Kimberly), Brian Schmitz (Diana), John Schmitz (Jane), Regina Keyes (Jonathan) and Angela Bennett; his daughter-in-law Carla Schmitz; and his siblings, Monica Patton, Mary Margaret VanErt and James Schmitz. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In memory of Robert, his family suggest memorials to the St. Joseph Cemetery Association, Rose Hill Cemetery Association or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
