We are sad to announce that on June 22, 2023, at the age of 88, Verda L. Benitz of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Orville Lovitt and Lillian Lovitt (Hill); her husband Robert E. Benitz; her son Mark E. Benitz; and her siblings, Russell Lovitt, Bonnie Thomas and Billie Halloran.

She is survived by: her children, Bethany R. Hawkins (Warren) of Camden Point, Missouri, Robert E. Benitz, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, David L. Benitz (Julie) of Greensboro and Timothy W. Benitz of Kansas City, Missouri; her sister-in-law Elaine Lovitt; and her grandchildren, Shanin Hawkins, Nathan Hawkins, Derrick Benitz, Bobby Benitz, Selena Waldon, Jeremy Benitz, Brooke Hanson, Stephanie Sage, Jenny Lopez and Lisa Benitz. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In keeping with Verda's wishes, donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3524 St. Joseph Avenue, St. Joseph, Missouri, 64505 or Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63110.
