He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Cox and Sadie Cox (Berry); his wife Virginia Ileen Wood; his son Ricky Don Cox; and his brothers, Charles and Earl Cox.

He is survived by : his children, Steven Cox (Nancy) of Cameron, Missouri and Glenda Cox (Bob Stanley) of Chillicothe, Missouri. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lindley Funeral Home (910 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens (3140 US-65, Chillicothe, MO 64601).
