“Kit was a dear friend of our family for years! My Uncle Bob, (Dr. Robert Schoenen) first introduced me to Kit when I was 13 years old in Jefferson City. He showed up on Uncle Bob’s porch with a bucket cap and fishing rod in his left hand, extending his right hand to shake with me, and introduced himself. Later, when I asked Uncle Bob who this nice gentleman I met earlier was, he replied, “He’s just the governor of Missouri!” Little did I know that we would be reacquainted at Ladue Chapel !”
