He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Avooske and Mabel Avooske; his parents-in-law, James and Jean Green; and his siblings, Marian Satterfield (Harold), Jean Avooske, Rita Herschbach (Harry) and Russell Avooske.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Avooske of Washington, MO; his sons, Robert Avooske (Pam) of Robertsville, MO, Eric Avooske of Washington, MO and John Avooske Jr. of Robertsville, MO; his grandchildren, Moebias Jung, Danielle Crane (Dan) and James Avooske; his great grandchildren, Thomas Crane, Charlie Crane and Skylan Humphrey; his great great grandchild Axel Sigala; and his siblings-in-law, Laura Schreiner of Washington, MO, Mary O'Brien of St. Louis, James Green (Marcia) of Washington, MO and Damian Green (Julie) of St. Louis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
