He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen M. Backer; his parents, Howard Backer and Theresa Backer; and his sisters, Theresa, Genevieve, Bobbie and Donna.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Backer (Kelly), Joseph Backer (Kennedy), Carson, Noelle, Winnie and Halle; his siblings, Patsy, Michael, Julie and Kathy; and his close friend Glenda Seilnacht. He is also survived by Papa John to his grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church (6603 Christopher Dr, St. Louis, MO 63129).
