He was predeceased by: his parents, John McDevitt and Agnes Bridget McDevitt; his wife Cecilia McDevitt; his son-in-law Jim Russell; his siblings, James Mark DeVitt (Freda), Catherine Bridget Cunningham (Frank), Thomas J. McDevitt (Patricia), Mary Golden, Michael McDevitt (Mary), Hugh McDevitt (Joan), Peter McDevitt, Elizabeth "Betty" McDevitt and Anna McDevitt; and his sister-in-law Ida McDevitt.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph John McDevitt, Cecilia Marie Russell, Timothy Patrick McDevitt (Teresa), James Robert McDevitt (Mary), Mary Elizabeth Akers (Bret), Bridget Ann Durant (Lawrence), John William McDevitt (Dawn) and David William McDevitt (Wendy); his grandchildren, Jessica Marie Tomkoski (Daniel), Joshua Joseph McDevitt (Amanda), Meghin Bridget McConville (D. J.), Nichlaus Patrick McDevitt, Cameron Charles Talbott, Cassandra Grace Talbott, Colin James McDevitt, Anne Marie Willis (Brian), Tanner Dean Akers, Jason Latimer, Heather Marie Courser (Matthew), Christina Bridget Ramsey (James), Richard Thomas-Patrick Latimer, William Edward McDevitt, Chloe Elizabeth McDevitt and Liam Edward Daniel McDevitt; his great grandchildren, Vladimer, Lillith, Celeste, Silas, Cadence and Samuel; his brother William McDevitt; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Golden and Mary McDevitt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, their families and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shepard Funeral Chapel (9255 Natural Bridge Rd, St. Louis, MO 63134). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Ann Catholic Church (7530 Natural Bridge Rd, St. Louis, MO 63121). A burial will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (5239 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115).
