He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Althoff Westerfield; and his father Harlin 'Buck Westerfield. He is survived by: his mother Mary E. 'Betty Jensen Westerfield; his son Brendan David Westerfield; his siblings, Terry Westerfield (Dominick Tamburo) and Kyle Westerfield (Emiko); his parents-in-law, Maureen Wenberg (John) and John Althoff (Ann); his siblings' children, Jordan Westerfield, Katie Feero, Maggie Wenberg, Allison Althoff, Mary Kate Althoff, Travis Westerfield and Johnny Althoff; his cousins, Becky Levin, John Ruhmann, Kathy Ballou and Betty Marler; and his great-aunt Agnes Tuepker.
