She was predeceased by: her mother Church; her husband Ernest Spinks; and her grandsons, Brian Spinks and Aaron Freeman. She is survived by: her children, Sharon Spinks, Steven Spinks, Gregory Spinks, Allison Spinks and Leslie Hendricks; her grandchildren, Jerrid Spinks, Sean Spinks (Renelle), Kyle Spinks, Maurice Spinks, Markita Spicer (Leonard), Craig Spinks, Andrew Blackmon (Chelsea) and Kristen Hendricks; and her sister Marilyn Chase.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church (4330 Shreve Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115). A Mass was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery (2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Homer G Phillips in LaVerna's honor.
