We are sad to announce that on October 14, 2025, at the age of 67, Rita Schmitz (Saint Louis, Missouri) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Rita is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Rita's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Callaghan and Ruth Callaghan (Bartmess); her husband Richard Schmitz; and her sister Patricia May. She is survived by: her sons, Robert Schmitz (Tiffany) of Ledyard, CT and Andrew Schmitz (Annie) of Freeburg, IL; and her grandchildren, Lilly, Connor, Owen, Avery, Brody, Declan and Dean.
