He is survived by: his wife Benita Perkins (Edelman); his son Steve; his daughter-in-law Meridith Perkins; his grandchildren, Nathaniel and Flora; and his siblings, Linda, Mary and Keith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, Louis requested that memorial donations be made to the Washington University Memory and Aging Project.
