With solemn reverence, we commemorate Edith (Smith) Marie Layton (Saint Peters, Missouri), born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, whose life came to an end on June 25, 2025 at the age of 99, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Henry and Manie Smith; her husband Arthur Thomas Layton; her daughter Betty Morton (Mike); and her grandchildren, Laurie Morton and Ryan G. Sutterer.
She is survived by: her sister Ethel Lee Miller; her nieces and nephews, Robert Layton (Sue), Harold Layton (Maureen), Linda Layton Kaucher, Kathy Bub (Tim) and Jim Layton; her grandchildren, Kelly Flanagan (Jim), Michael Layton (Melissa Heintz), Jeffrey Layton (Crystal), Lisa Montgomery (Jayden), Michael Morton (Mandy), Todd Morton (Michelle), Ellen Christian (Dave), Karen Mispagel (Mike), Megan Layton, Patrick Layton (Ashleigh), Emily Sottoriva (Charlie), Jean Eckert (Casey), Trish Underwood (Ryan), Kate Bierman, Jennifer Summers (Gary), Eric Sutterer (Julie) and Nicole Layton; and her friend Edie. She is also survived by thirty-three great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63376). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Church of Florissant (751 N Jefferson St, Florissant, MO 63031).
