He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleller Mooney and Lillie May Mooney (Shepherd); his siblings, Floyd "Sam" Mooney, Lloyd "Nooch" Mooney, Joann Enke, Ida Marie Reed, Joyce Harrison and Mary Lou Richardson; John Cleller Mooney.

He is survived by: his daughters, Shannon Mooney (Randy Stewart Jr.) of Sullivan, MO and Sarah Mooney of Salem, MO; and his sisters, Barbara Hogan of Salem, MO, Shirley Jones of Arlington, TX and Meta Naramore (Oran) of Salem, MO. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Jadwin Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given in James's memory to his family to offset final expenses.
