She was predeceased by: her husband James C. Shaffer; and her siblings, Alice Hains, Larry Pat Hilker and Jackie Ray Hilker. She is survived by: her sister Mary Lee Oates of Pierce City, Missouri; and her niece Angela Starchman (Todd) of Joplin, Missouri.

In-lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
